Every Thursday we will spend time observing what is happening in nature that week! We will hold our session outdoors as much as possible, so dress for weather and mess! Weekly topics have been gathered from Exploring Nature with Children by Lynn Sedon, with some substitutions. Our lessons will include elements of Montessori, Waldorf, and Charlotte Mason.

Magic of the Seasons is great for children ages 3-6, with younger siblings welcome to join in!

Meet Miss Katherine

Miss Katherine is a fun-loving teacher who’s all about family, music, and finding joy in nature. With a degree in Sociology and Social Work, Katherine’s experience includes working in an elementary school autistic support classroom, but her biggest role lately has been as a full-time mom to her two little ones, ages 4 and 2. They’ve inspired her to explore educational methods like Montessori and Waldorf, and she plans to bring elements of these into her class. Whether she’s in the garden or the kitchen, Miss Katherine loves learning and creating, and she’s excited to share her peaceful connection to nature with her students as they journey through the seasons together.

“With Magic of the Seasons, I hope to share knowledge about the rhythms of the seasons, traditions and nature.

However, the true magic I wish to impart, is the feeling one has when they enter a space that was crafted with love and intention. I hope children see stories told with handmade puppets and think “I can do this too.” I hope they dig in to the sensory bins and crafts with a feeling of satisfaction and pride, knowing “I made this myself.” And as we follow the rhythm of the year and go through festivals and traditions we deepen the sense of community connection, children can feel “I belong here.”

In a growing technological world, I feel the importance of creating an intentional time and space to connect with one another and nature. When I reflect on the last two years of Magic of the Seasons, I see it has been a gift to myself and my family. We too have been learning to slow down and find the joy in every season together and have made our own traditions.
